Have a look at this page. It has some pretty useful info and tips on how to defeat it with each profession.
Monk of Base.

Just make sure that you don't use any skill that causes health degeneration (like bleeding or poison).
You'll kill it easily.

Healing breeze only, in spot 8. Apparently, from my luck and from what I have read before, the doppleganger tends to use your skills from the left side of the skill bar before the right. He didn't use it.
I got my monk, e/mo, n/mo all thru using this.
Spam breeze when needed and wand to death. Boring, but it worked.

The dopple won't use Breeze unless he gets degen. It doesn't matter where you put it on the skillbar.
The idea on a Mo/R is that you get a pet while he doesn't. So use a lot of pet skills to kill him, since he can't use them back. As long as you dont give him any degen, you can bring Breeze for yourself and he won't use it.

Max smiting, zero in Healing, bring Orison of Healing, Scourge Healing, and six smite skills. Cast SH on the doppel and start smiting him, and he'll kill himself with Orison. Took me ~25 seconds.

With Mo/Me its easy
all you do is bring spirit shackles, a few smite skills and some healing skills. He will allways use his weapon to attack and with spirit shackles on him we will destroy his own energy pool so he wont be able to heal himself or send smites

Same with any class.
Go /Me, max out Domination and take Empathy. Cast in on the Doppel and just strafe his arrows while he kills himself.
Empathy dance ftw.

You could do what JR said or you could do it this way to bad you aren't a Mo/W and bring frenzy and when do this as Mo/R forget the pet and use spirits like a Ranger would do to defeat it anyway this is how I did it with breeze on my bar.
Quote:
Some of the above methods no longer work due to AI improvements. However, the combination of Holy Wrath, Retribution, and an otherwise empty skill bar works for getting bonus.

Bring 3 maintained enchantments and holy wrath, then whatever smiting skills and heals you want. He will cast all his enchantments and then you wand him once or twice and say bye-bye to his energy.
